Britain’s Got Talent??

If “urban-dancer” George Sampson is the most talented person in the whole of Britain, I’m fucking emigrating.

I hate “Britain’s Got Talent” more than anything else in the world. Piers Morgan’s a slimey, patronising twat, Amanda Holden a vacuous, hysterical, insincere, attention-seeking bint, with too many teeth for her mouth; and Simon Cowell, well, he used to be alright, but now he’s turned into an over-dramatic fucking caraceture of himself, spouting incessant cliches and constantly starting ’spontaneous’ feuds with the other judges. The whole thing’s so Americanized and gaudy, it makes me want to throw up. It’s filmed in that awful, soap-opera style, with slow motion, excessive crowd shots and emotive music, that discards any shred of reality in exchange for drama.

As long as you’re cute, and a child you’ll go far; in fact I’m sure you could just walk out and vomit in Piers’s face, edit it with a bit of Snow Patrol in the background, hysterical cheering from the crowd, a disabled parent, fucking Holden weeping, and Britain’d be yours.

Old people and mentals however get a raw deal. They’re just booed, embarrassed and patronised. It wouldn’t surprise me if they fitted a trapdoor to the stage, unsucsessful audition-ees plunging into a big bucket of shit or something. That’d be proper entertainment.

Well although Farrel is ‘cute’, she has a fucking amazing voice for a 12 year old. Unprecedented possibly. Although I see your point, I think there are far more significant things to get conspicuously riled about.

I’m glad you updated this.

And you’re right… you’re totally and completely right!

Comment by StephHasArrived

It’s surprisingly the same way in America, but we’re stupid enough to love it. I, honestly, can’t really take any more of it, but it goes on and on and on.

Comment by pnogal32

i agree with you completely. except for the part where i havent missed an episode. ugh im ashamed of myself. i bet we’re gonna be hearing about this on a certain podcast.

Comment by hannah

Totally agree about the Americanisation of these shows. Everything is so over dramatic and fake. And don’t get me started on the sob stories.

Comment by iceboots89

…And we’re having an argentinian version of this tv show, which i think will be even worse…
I think i miss the old tv shows… lol

Comment by unade2

Right… Amanda getting all hot over the strike boys.Simon being all nice, rather than the hilarious tosser we were used to. Piers just no.

Comment by Spooner

I mostly agree. I was almost yelling at my compter screen when the camera editing was so over the top that I coudn’t even see the routine.

Piers and Amanda are boring and irritating, and Simon seemed to be a little bit of a pervert this season lol.

But I did enjoy watching Britains got Talent because you do get to see some interesting acts along the way unlike American Idol and most of the other crap on TV.

Great show. Love it.

Just felt like disagreeing seeing everyone just like agrees with you completely.

I dunno, Australia’s got talent is on now and i don’t watch any of it. It’s probably entertaining, but what’s the point, the winner is only going to be famous for a week after the show’s over, then its Australian Idol, then Biggest loser, so you think you can dance, big brother, then back around again.

Got Talent in my country (Spain) is a freak show… seriously. The last shows were full of people without arms, boys with down’s syndrome, poor gypsies and a billion sad kids trying their best to look like adults (some of them were wearing more make up than my mom and all my five aunts together).

Pft, it’s sad and pathetic. And no, that’s not the best talent one could find here.

I don’t know, it wasn’t that bad, I’d rather watch Britain’s Got Talent than fucking Big Brother. I think its one of those shows that has the potential to be great, but because its been made by ITV its shit. I’m just glad the British public didn’t vote a dog as the most talented thing in Britain, you can see that shit at Crufts.

This show “Dancing with the Stars” has started up here in America. It’s got (if you could call them this) celebrities partnered with professional dancers to compete each week. It’s full of shit, too, with some of the ‘celebrities’ being dancers themselves, or professional figure skaters. It seems to be a big hit with parent-age folks. I just don’t see the appeal, really. It does, however, top the charts each week on both consecutive nights it airs (Each Monday and Tuesday night). I agree with you here: what is this infatuation the common people have with this ‘reality’? Is watching strangers dance around in costume two nights a week for 1.5 hours each more real that talking with your children, communicating as a family, or generally bonding with those around you? Oh, I ranted! My apologies.

This is directed towards heybandy.

Hey, bandy!

Anyway.

I think people are obsessed with knowing about what the heck ‘celebrities’ are like outside the films. I’m sure many people would want to know what Jimmy does outside of my computer… but he isn’t on any reality show.

And people just want to know how these ‘celebrities’ face up to the stage. That’s what I think about the Dancing with the Stars thing.

About the Idol shows? Not a clue. But they ARE fascinating… seeing as how awesomely the American Idol winner sung this year. Ol’ whatsisface.

Ohh kind of like ‘America’s got talent’, I haven’t actually seen the show or any show that relates to that. I’ve only heard of ‘America’s got talent’ because they had it on the yahoo front page. I don’t bother with reality shows.

Watch SIX FEET UNDER(that’s a show!)

Comment by Vero

come on, show a bit of compassion, it’s not as if Sampson had a sob story or anything. He didn’t proclaim in every single fucking montage that he was doing it for his poor old Mother who has a rash or something. Oh wait…

Comment by Stret and Jen

This is why i don’t even bother watching these type of shows. I don’t watch much tv, but what I do watch tends to not have real people on it… Just stay away from the tv in general… It might eat you…

Americanized, eh? That kind of puts shame to whatever you stick it on, doesn’t it? Lol. You’re right, way to much drama in American society. Poor Simon’s been Americanized!

Comment by Me

I cannot wait to have kids. They’re going to have singing, acting, and every single dance lessons possible. Obviously starting at age 10 monthes. Gotta be ready for the competition. lol

Dancing lessons incase he can’t sing, singing lessons, incase he can’t dance, and acting lessons so he knows how to convince a crowd he’s got a sob story, yet has grown up throughout the process of the competition. which would probably be 3 monthes max.

You have to think, the kids on these shows, say like oh, i started singing at the age of 2. I can hardly remember anything in my ‘2′ years, nevermind totally being able to know that i would want to sing opera music as my career in life. Who knew Pavarotti would be my idol.

As an American, I completely agree with you. I used to watch such narcissistic, dreadfully molded crap like America’s Got Talent, etc…but I realized soon enough of its true roots, it’s lack of intelligent, or even remotely unique and interesting dialog and showcases, that it just became depressing to watch people put themselves on such shows and expect candor.

Hmm. I feel like I’m rambling.

Comment by Kate

I hate America.
& I’ve lived here my whole life (:
Nice to know our shows aren’t the only completely ridiculous ones.

Comment by manda

Hmm…I’d like to point out that I still have that weird, inexplicable but blatant affection for my country ;) that I’m sure many of the English do too

Comment by Kate

I came up with a solution to this problem seven years ago. I threw out my TV.

Comment by SeveralBillionMiles

so…
you don’t really like it then, jimmy?

Comment by Rachel

‘America’s Got Talent’ is just as bad. Well, actually, compared to ‘Britan’s’ it’s worse. Basically, poo on us Americans, I agree. XD

Comment by Mallory

They’ve brought this horror to the USA. Piers joined by David Hasselhoff and Bride o’ Ozzy. The judges are fond of saying, “That’s what this show is all about,” by which they mean, of course, it’s about humiliating the contestants and annoying the audience to the point of tuneout. That we live in a world where no country is safe from this putrescent clap-trap is one of the most depressing things about the 21st century. Once you get past the wars, the starvation, and the poverty, that is.

Comment by Mickeleh

Yeah, you think Britain is bad. America is even worse. I totally agree, America just makes everything melodramatic and gaudy. And it is definitely the worst reality contestant show on TV.

Did you know last year one a vinquilitrist won? A VINQUILITRIST.

Comment by Isabel

Haha, I love how fueled you got on this Jimmy.
If you wanna see extremely crap T.V. youtube Japanese television (even though I secretly/not so secretly love those dumb game shows. Human Tetris is coming to america, YES)
